My Body Is No Longer Mine - a poem

My body is no longer mine, according to the courts.

I don’t know where they get off on restrictions of all sorts.

The quality of healthcare will soon go down,

thanks to the decision of a few old clowns.

My body is no longer mine, as they struck down Roe v. Wade.

They want nothing more than for women to be afraid.

Our abortion pills, our birth control, the plight of our sisters.

Who decided that our rights were up to the misters?

My body is no longer mine thanks to a group of old white men.

Those who don’t have a pair of ovaries to defend.

Is bodily autonomy too much to ask?

Don’t our counterparts get that much without it being a task?

My body is no longer mine because I have a pair of ovaries instead of balls.

As a human being, frankly I am appalled.

Why does my gender determine whether I’m treated as a person?

Do the organs in my pelvis determine whether my quality of life is to worsen?

My.

Body.

Is.

No.

Longer.

Mine.

All because I was born with a uterus.
