I'm sorry dad. - a poem

I’m sorry dad,

I was never your strongest daughter,

But a miserable broken child,

Who knew how to suppress her sufferings from everyone around.

I’m sorry dad,

I was never your warrior,

But I used to fight silent battles on the bathroom floor since the ripe age of 7,

The silhouette of the fabric used to hug my wounds, so horrible.

I’m sorry dad,

I was never your lucky charm,

All those fights —

The shattered glasses,

The bloody floor,

The bruised limbs,

were somewhere caused by me.

I’m sorry dad

I was never the child of your dreams,

But was a child of your sins.

I’m sorry dad.
