Goodbye. - a poem
I stood near the door way as we bid our goodbyes.
You were too busy crying; wiping your tears away mom told you to take care of yourself,
Dad told you that he’s proud of you
You looked for my eyes,
Begging for words; I stood there with solitude.
I wanted to hug you and tell you that I love you.
But the poisonous vines had already caught up my pace
I stood there with tears behind my eyes,
Longing for your hug.
We stared at each other; solitude catching up to both of us.
I made fun of your bloodshot eyes and you laughed; knowing that I would spend the next
two hours gasping for air on the bathroom floor.
We held our gaze and then the moment came; though I wish it never did.
You said the words- goodbye,
And I repeated after you “goodbye.
